Here it is-The big list of all things baby
This list has recently been in demand by my friends, so I thought I would post it. Don't be afraid, you don't need it all right away!



The Big List Of All Things Baby
What you should get before bringing home your bundle of joy
(Honestly, you don't need it all, but it is all the stuff you may want to think about getting!)

·         Safety
o   Cabinet locks
o   baby gates (stairs, to keep pets out of rooms, etc)
o   Plug protectors
·         Furniture
o   Crib
o   Changing Table
o   Bouncy Chair
o   Crib Mattress
o   Rocking Chair
o   Swing
·         Linens
o   Fitted crib sheets (I would recommend white so you can bleach it. The pretty stuff looks dirty, fast)
o   Dust ruffle (you can hid stuff under the bed)
o   Quilt
o   Light blankets
o   Swaddling blankets-I prefer homemade square blankets to swaddlers
o   Changing pad (with 2-3 covers, or no cover-which is what we do now, makes it easier to clean)
o   Mattress protector x 3 (waterproof)
·         Travel
o   Changing pad
o   Diaper bag
o   Wipe container (or zip lock bags)
o   Portable crib (pack and play-they are awesome-also good to set up downstairs so you can keep an eye on a very young baby when sleeping)
o   Portable crib sheets
o   Car seat
o   Stroller
o   Sun shades
o   Winter cover for car seat
o   Mirror (to see baby in car)
o   Sling/carrier (get an Ergo-I have hiked with a 30lb kid in it)

o   Pacifiers (don't go crazy yet, get 2 types, one pack of each)

o   Baby monitor (get one you can use while you are outside)
o   Night light-for you so you don't have to walk around in the dark
o   White noise machine (use around 3 months)

o   Toys (you need a rattle to start)

o   4oz bottles (buy just a few to start, some babies are picky and you will need to try a few types (I recommend Avent-easy to clean, Dr. Brown's are a huge pain in the butt to clean)
o   Breast pump (Medala is expensive but worth it)
o   Breast milk storage bags (freeze for emergencies!)
o   Breast pads
o   Burp cloths
o   bibs

·         Keeping baby clean

Things you don't need-because they are dangerous:
·         Baby powder-talc is bad for baby lungs, corn starch based feeds the infection
·         Crib bumpers-they may look cute, but they are a suffocation hazard-I can't believe they still sell them. Although I have never seen a baby get hurt from being stuck in between  crib railings, if you are really concerned they make mesh ones.
