Cotton Ball Rocks
You have probably seen this on Pinterest, but here is our
version with a few tips
Why? This was asked immediately on my Facebook page.
Because. Because it is fun. We were also learning about rocks, but this was
just fun.
First mix equal parts flour and water.
Color it if you want-we used food coloring. I saw you could
use Jello too to make it smell good.
Coat cotton balls in flour mixture. Let them drain a little
Put them on a cooking sheet covered with a silicone pad, or
parchment paper.
Bake at 325 for 25 or until they seem to dry out. I used the convection setting.
Ours were hot we let them cool, and because it was then
pretty late, we let them sit out overnight, which turned out to be a good thing
because they hardened overnight
The next day we put them on cutting boards (it was snowing)
and let the kids go to town smashing them. Ty used a real hammer-HIS REAL
HAMMER-Gav a toy one. They love smashing
them, got some arm exercise in, and later stomped on them, so they moved their
legs.
We also talked about geodes a little, but really this was
just fun.
